I have light brown hair and I got semipermanent red streaks. I loved them! I think you should go for semipermanent ones first, and then, if you like them, get them permanent.

I have dirty blonde hair and when I got copper red highlights, it looked amazing. Though figure out your skin tone because it kind of depends on that too.
