I am not against a person wanting to feel good about themselves, don't get me wrong. I just don't understand why blonde hair is put on some high pedestal.Nothing is as beautiful to me as a woman with healthy, shiny, natural hair.If God wanted everybody blonde, wouldn't they be? Beauty comes in all shades and colors. If people understood this , I think we would all be better off. I guess I just don't understand using someone else's standard of beauty, instead of being happy natural. Just wondering ??????
Is dyeing your hair blonde, on some level a form of self hatred?
Yes, I dont understand why everyone wants to be bonde. I would look horrid as a blonde, I'm sticking to being a brunette.

I'm sure for some women, it is a sign of low self-esteem, but some just like to try a new look for reasons of being bored, looking different, or being perceived differently. It's really not much different than getting a tatoo or dressing in a certain way.

It's just hair, and yes any shade of hair can be pretty, I just recently got my hair dyed dark blonde and I like it but next time I think I will try a different shade of brown sense fall is coming anyways, but really it'll all grow out ne ways

some people have natural blond hair so don't assume every blondie you see out there dyed their hair that color.

I say go natural ... that's the way you were intended to look. I have naturally blond hair myself and truthfully I prefer the look of dark hair to light.

"Self-hatred" is far too strong a term in this case. There's a big difference between loathing your appearance (e.g. plastic surgery addicts) and wanting to play around with your look. The whole "If God wanted everybody ___, wouldn't they be?" is a slippery slope argument. For instance, if God wanted everyone to have straight teeth, wouldn't they? So the majority of people who get braces must hate themselves because they can't accept the crooked teeth that "God intended them to have". Face it, if everyone were all-natural, or in your words "as God intended", that would mean no razors, make-up, shampoo, etc. God didn't invent any of those things, as far as I know.
And by the way, colored hair can be "healthy and shiny" too. I've also seen plenty of people with never-been-colored hair that was in bad shape.
Finally, I think it's interesting that you only mention the color "blond"... do you think t's a form of self-hatred for someone to color their hair brown or black? Or is that acceptable because those haircolors are found more frequently among most ethnic groups?

no. women like to try different things.
we all have different tastes and styles. If one decided tp go blonde, it doesnt mean she hates herself...she is just bored with what she has!

I'm a natural blonde but I still use a blonde tint by Preference. There are hundreds of thousands of natural blondes in the world. There are many darker-haired people who look better as blondes or who simply prefer blonde hair. Oftentimes blonde hair is racial, we Irish, the English, the German, the Scandinavians all tend to have natural blonde hair. Blonde hair is symbolic of racial purity and beauty world-wide.

blonde only looks good on some people.

I don't think dying your hair blonde is a form of self hatred, I think shaving your head bald is a form of self hatred.
