The reason that some people say that lemon juice will give discolorations is because it works best for already naturally blonde (dar ot light) hair.

So if your hair isn't naturally blonde try one of the other ones like the cuppa chamomile one. Or you can try sun-in if your hair is a light shade of brown. But I would stick with one of the natural ways.

I'm naturally a dark blonde in color. However for seven years I'd been coloring my hair myself a light blonde and I loved it. However recently they discontinued the color I've always used. So i decided to color my hair brown for a change. Something I've always thought about doing. Now it's been about a year and I like my brown hair but want my light blonde hair back. I'd really like to do it myself but am worried about it turning a yellow/orange color. Has anyone ever done this themselves at home? If so what would you recommend? Like I said I want to do it myself and avoid paying the outrageous prices some hair dressers charge besides I have long hair.

You're best bet is to go into a local beauty supply store, and ask an employee what she suggests.

Going back to blonde, after you have deposited a darker color on your hair is extremely difficult to do. Not to mention very damaging to your hair. You're going to have to bleach it out at least once, maybe even twice. (the more you have to bleach it, the more it weakens your hair)

I've been coloring my hair for years, and have succesfully achieved what you are trying to do. My suggestion is to buy some hair bleach, enough for however long your hair is. Buying extra is always a good idea, because the amount you need depends on how porous your hair is, along with how long it is. I'd also buy a CHI ultra-high lift blonde color of your choice.

Follow the instructions for the bleach first. (ie: Apply the bleach about an inch or two from the scalp through your hair leaving the last 2 inches un-bleached. Once the middle part of your hair with the bleach on it starts to get close to the color you desire, apply the bleach to the roots, and ends of your hair. These areas lighten faster.) It's usually not safe to leave bleach on your hair for longer than 45 minutes, especially if it is already damaged.

If the bleach alone did not reach as light of a color as you desire, I'd wait a few days and apply the CHI color. This specific color is the ONLY "haircolor" that will lift so far that I've found. Other than that bleach is the only thing that lifts the hair. Every other type of color deposits only. In the few days you wait, I suggest conditioning your hair, using hair masks, and leave-in conditioner every day. Follow the instructions on the box for the color when you decide to use it.

Also, you'd probably need a friend to help you do all of this.

This may not work for you, but it did for me. Like I said in the first place, go to a local beauty supply store and ask what they suggest. They will be able to see you face to face, and determine what would be best by examining your hair.

Edit: If your hair does turn out to have an orange or yellow tone, ask an employee at the beauty supply store what a good color or toner to neutralize the result would be. Example... If you have an orange tone, you'll need a color with a blue undertone to neutralize it. To figure this out you look at a color wheel with primary and secondary colors on it. Neutralizing colors are opposite of eachother on the wheel.

I would go to a salon but if you can't afford it then buy a hair bleaching kit. Follow the instructions but don't panic it looks orange as it is just going through the stages. Some people panic when they see the orange and wash it off. Leave it untill it is blonde usually about 40 minutes and then wash it off and condition it. Then use a toner in the colour you require.

Ash colour doesn't have a lot of red in it but in most hair, the natural red is the most difficult to remove and it's why a lot of people end up with yellow or orange hair after bleaching. If your hair has a natural red in it, then it might be difficult to remove and the only way you can do it is by using a colour that's opposite of the colour spectrum. I haven't done hairdressing for a while but from what I remember blue is the opposite to yellow, so a blue tint will tone down yellow. Look up the colour spectrum online to see the opposite colour. Those Born Blonde toners are good at toning blonde hair, or those wash in wash out things in platinum blonde.

Hmmmm........ that is really weird ask for a permanent hair dye seriously it should take a while before it washes out like that. They are ripping you off find a better hairstylist ASK FOR A DIRTY BLONDE ITS LIKE ASH BLONDE! I actually think you should get a good strong dye that will last. Don't use te stuff from markets they wash out easily. Or just get highlights with your blonde hair a picture oft the hair you want will also help

tell the hair dresser that you want an ash blond with a blue base. when dying your hair you should wait 2 or 3 days to wash it once it has been rinsed and washed the first time. if that does not work try mixing your ash blond hair dye with a grey coverer. also use a 30volume developer. 40volume will fade fast and 20volume doesnt lift the prev. color enough to deposit correctly.

This results in dry, damaged hair about 95% of the time. I can guess this product will not give you the desired results of "blonde" hair, but I suspect your dark colour will lighten visibly.

I do NOT recommend doing this at home using any kind of kit; over-the-counter hair colors that involve bleach are very harsh and after a few times, your hair will feel like straw. It's also a lot easier to overlap and bleach the same hair twice when you're doing your own (if you want to touch up the roots, you really should only put the bleach on the roots and not on hair that has already been lightened, because of how much damage it causes). Invest the money in having a professional do your color, and make sure they are using professional-quality bleaches and toners. Add a cellophane to repair damage and protect the hair. It's totally worth the money.

There isn't a whole lot you can do about it, except dye the hair, or have the child run around in the sun constantly. Something another person mentioned was sun in.. A natural hair changer. It usually has hydrogen peroxide and lemon juice in it that helps lighten up the color of the hair.

if you want it dark, get a dye that is a little darker than you want. it will fade but enough to cover what you want. dye it then use deep condisioner. to it wont fry. just like when you bleech your hair or something.

If the color you chose was too brassy (which means to much red-tones), you need to go over it with a green-based product. When correcting color, always go to the opposite side of the color-wheel.

the level of peroxide and amonia is what messes your hair up not the lightness of the color. to get it less brassy look for a dye in the same color family that has a different base tone. green of course is not good with blonde either is cooper,red, or orange unless you want a strawberry effect. try using a blue base ashe color to take out the bronze/cooper color. ashe anything usually take out the brassyness of a dye. as for only a week ago you dyed it... you should not have anyproblems if you condition properly after you dye your hair. just in case use aussie 3 minute miracle it works wonders.

It would be best if you went to a good beauty salon like Mario Tricoci and let them select the color that is best of you. Different shades of blonde look different on everyone because of hair thickness, texture, curls or straight, complexion, eye color, etc.

I like to use Mario Tricoci because they use products that animals are not forced to drink or have burn their eyes out in tests. They instead use products that are not tested on animals like Wella Hair Color. I can't tell you how thrilled I was to learn about this when I first went to them.

And they have a huge following because they really do a great job. You might want to contact Wella and ask them if they could give you a list of salons in your area that use their products.

i have blonde hair on my upper lip/face. it's not really noticeable inside but when i get in the sun i'm really self conscious about it because you can see it. i don't want to wax it or anything because it will be darker when it comes back. is there just a way to make it less noticeable? is it even that big of a deal?

You really only need to deal with any of it if it becomes stiffer or much darker. Those happen with age, except for blond hair, which usually turns lighter, then white.

You'll have to keep dying it if you despise your blonde hair that much. And if you're going to be dying it that often, especially when blonde roots come in, the chances of your having a hair dying mishap increase. It could turn a weird color, dying it too much could damage your hair, in some cases could actually make it fall out and you'll end up looking like me (heh heh).

Seriously, though, you were born a blonde and will likely remain one until you're an old lady when it will turn white most likely. So just embrace it! Seeing as how your top part is already blonde and the bottom isn't I would reccomend GRADUALLY (Dye it blonde, or strip it wait 4-5 weeks if not more and then try it once again if it did not lighten enough the first time!) lightening the bottom half until it's a desired color of blonde (a close match to the top).

Once you have the desired color, then I would find a color of blonde that you want your whole head, and procceed just dying the whole head. I really wouldnt strongly reccomend doing it yourself, because your going to seriousley dry out and damage your hair...but thats the best advice i have for you. Good Luck!

Did you put all your hair on top of your head and rub it into the rest of your hair making sure that the color was fully distributed and then cover it with a plastic bag? Probably not. If you color only the ends you are going to have a stripe in the middle of your hair and you will have an even bigger problem. My suggestion? I would color your hair back to its original shade, go to a salon and have some blonde high lights put in, and get some long layers cut into it. Of course, after a while the color will fade and you will be able to see the blonde again but, with the layers and the highlights this will be less noticable. You may have to wait a few years to be totally blonde but this is the best way to save the damage that will be done to your hair if you have it completely stripped. But, it's up to you what you want to do. The same thing happened to me about 10 years ago when I tried to do it with out my mom knowing. She was a beautician for 25 years and still holds her cosmetologists license. I know what I'm talking about.

I am not interested in that poker straight bleached blonde 'wag' look that everyone seems to have right now but I am looking for a big change and my mum always says I should try blonde hair some day. If you had a picture, this question would be much easier to answer. Most of the time, if your natural color is dark, the chance of being able to pull of blonde is 50/50. Now, if you want a DARK blonde, i'd say go for it. Otherwise, it's questionable. Try going to a stylist, they'll be able to tell you what undertone your skin has- whether it's warm or cool. That's a huge factor with haircolor, and it's about impossible to help you if you don't already know that. =/

it is really hard to say. my bet is that it is a bad idea because to spite what the box says, it will not wash out that fast....if at all.

get some spray or a rinse like fancy foil. you can get that at walmart or sallys and it will wash out as soon as you wash your hair guaranteed! if your hair has been bleached, has high-lift color, or is really porous on the ends....i wouldn't risk it.

I think it is a bad idea. The temporary hair color will not wash out completly in 10 days. When they say 10 days they mean it will look like that brown color for 10 days before it starts to fade. I wouldn't risk it just for halloween. Instead get a cute brown synthetic wig or the hair paint that washes out when you take a shower.

If you want a unique look---sure. I don't think that mixing brown with strawberry blonde would be flattering because the shades would compete with one another. If you want contrast, I would suggest going with an auburn instead of brown---that way you stay in the same family color.

So my hair was black with about 2 inches of natural light brown/dark blonde root. Bleached all over with peroxide and ended up with almost white roots and fading down to a brownish colour at the tips, then dyed bright bright red all over (which is a pigment only, semi permanent dye which I have used several times since) which looks cool. When I first bleached my hair was in terrible condition, however this was 5 months ago and it is now pretty much back to it's previous healthyness. I really want honey blond hair with highlights, like Mary Kate in the foreground of the picture:

haha...sounds like you play with your hair as much as I do! My suggestion...talk to your stylist first. I'm not a professional (even though I've probably dyed my hair enough to be), but if you have red hair right now, you might want to do a chemical stripping treatment on your hair...that's what you should ask your stylist about b/c I've never done that. But what it will do is strip your hair of any artificial coloring. Then you will basically be left with the bleached hair you had (it most likely will NOT look pretty at this stage) but at this point, you can dye your hair a nice honey blonde colour and then add highlights to it to get the lighter streaks. You MIGHT need to give your hair a two week break between the dying it blonde phase and the highlights (just to revive it if it gets dry). Hope this helps and I hope it looks great! :o)

I actually did the same thing in high school. So what I would do in your case is dye it a light med brown ash"cool" this will dimish the red tones from your red dye faster. Then just wait a few weeks the red color will fade on its own and it will turn a light copperish brown. When this happens you can go to the salon and tell them you want that color with a few lighter streaks. By this time your hair will be closer to the picture anyway but if you want the streaks its better if you dont do them yourself. Also for now get "dumb blonde"conditioner from bed head and wear it before you dye it anymore. I dont think you should strip your hair it will be more stressful on your hair, since you already bleached it. What they do in the salon is use a powered bleach solution that tries to remove haircolor but its not always effective and it sometimes leaves yellow uneven patches. Its also harmful.

Another option if you dont want to dye your hair again is buy elimi8. It not as stressful on your hair. however, you said the red was not permanent haircolor so the red will fade on its own with time and turn rusty copper. This product will still help you remove the rustyred and the uneven color.

I'm naturally a dark blonde in color. However for seven years I'd been coloring my hair myself a light blonde and I loved it. However recently they discontinued the color I've always used. So i decided to color my hair brown for a change. Something I've always thought about doing. Now it's been about a year and I like my brown hair but want my light blonde hair back. I'd really like to do it myself but am worried about it turning a yellow/orange color. Has anyone ever done this themselves at home? If so what would you recommend? Like I said I want to do it myself and avoid paying the outrageous prices some hair dressers charge besides I have long hair.

You're best bet is to go into a local beauty supply store, and ask an employee what she suggests.

Going back to blonde, after you have deposited a darker color on your hair is extremely difficult to do. Not to mention very damaging to your hair. You're going to have to bleach it out at least once, maybe even twice. (the more you have to bleach it, the more it weakens your hair)

I've been coloring my hair for years, and have succesfully achieved what you are trying to do. My suggestion is to buy some hair bleach, enough for however long your hair is. Buying extra is always a good idea, because the amount you need depends on how porous your hair is, along with how long it is. I'd also buy a CHI ultra-high lift blonde color of your choice.

Follow the instructions for the bleach first. (ie: Apply the bleach about an inch or two from the scalp through your hair leaving the last 2 inches un-bleached. Once the middle part of your hair with the bleach on it starts to get close to the color you desire, apply the bleach to the roots, and ends of your hair. These areas lighten faster.) It's usually not safe to leave bleach on your hair for longer than 45 minutes, especially if it is already damaged.

If the bleach alone did not reach as light of a color as you desire, I'd wait a few days and apply the CHI color. This specific color is the ONLY "haircolor" that will lift so far that I've found. Other than that bleach is the only thing that lifts the hair. Every other type of color deposits only. In the few days you wait, I suggest conditioning your hair, using hair masks, and leave-in conditioner every day. Follow the instructions on the box for the color when you decide to use it.

Also, you'd probably need a friend to help you do all of this.

This may not work for you, but it did for me. Like I said in the first place, go to a local beauty supply store and ask what they suggest. They will be able to see you face to face, and determine what would be best by examining your hair.

Edit: If your hair does turn out to have an orange or yellow tone, ask an employee at the beauty supply store what a good color or toner to neutralize the result would be. Example... If you have an orange tone, you'll need a color with a blue undertone to neutralize it. To figure this out you look at a color wheel with primary and secondary colors on it. Neutralizing colors are opposite of eachother on the wheel.

I would go to a salon but if you can't afford it then buy a hair bleaching kit. Follow the instructions but don't panic it looks orange as it is just going through the stages. Some people panic when they see the orange and wash it off. Leave it untill it is blonde usually about 40 minutes and then wash it off and condition it. Then use a toner in the colour you require.

Oh, wow, you're literally like my twin!

I'll just list all the makeup I wear, since I'm not sure which ones you want to know about specifically.

To even out my skin tone and hide all imperfections: I use Physician's Formula Mineral Wear Foundation. This foundation is sheer enough to not hide your 'good' marks, like freckles and 'beauty' marks, but covers what you want to have covered. It's made from natural minerals so it's good for your skin and looks more natural than a powder or cream foundation. This foundation never looks cakey.

To absorb extra oil that may be on my face later on: I use Physician's Formula Mineral Wear pressed powder. Once, again, the minerals are good for your skin and don't dry it out.

To add a bit of color on my cheeks: I use Almay Smartshade blush. Since you said you want to look natural and not silly, this is perfect. It goes on clear but instantly adjusts to the exact color you blush.

For my eyes:

I use Covergirl products on my eyes because they seem to last the longest and are the best quality.

I like the CG Volume Exact mascara, which plumps up my lashes and lengthens without clumping them up. Try the brown-black shade which wouldnt be as harsh against your skin tone and hair color.

If I want a dramatic, sexy look, I go for the CG LineExact liquid liners. I use brown black or black for special occasions.

If I want a more tined down but still gorgeous eye, I go for the CG Outlast Smoothwear pencil liners.

Sometimes I wear eyeshadow. I like Maybelline ExpertWear shadows. Try these shades: Amethyst and Sparkling wine. These contrast against your eye color and make your eyes really POP! But be aure to wear the brown black mascara and liners, so you don't look too overdone.

If you want to wear a lipcolor, try the Covergirl TruShine lipsticks or Almay Hydracolor lipsticks. The Almay has 200% more water in it than other lipsticks, so you get a shiny and moisturizing lipstick that lasts long. The Covergirl lets your natual lip color shine through, so any color you choose looks natural.

If you have thick hair, I think layers would look great. Maybe you can get bangs or sideswept bangs (they'd look good with a long face). Maybe cut it an inch or two, but you're right, I don't think a short cut is the best course of action.

And you're right about the color. Blonde hair looks awesome with green eyes!

I'm sure you'll find a look that's great for you. Try looking in hair magazines, watching out for a model that has similar face structures or hair compared to you.

layer it having hair that layers lifts the face and if its rather "thinish" it give a more full look. Its also very easy to take care of. but with the blonde you have to be care to go to a good beautician because the blonde shows a bad cut really good... trust me i to have blonde hair.

If you're weary of going darker, try adding in some lowlights (dark blonde or light brown highlights) which will tone down the blonde and give you an idea of whether you like it. Do an all-over lowlight though.

If you are over eight years old and "still" blonde, *why* would you want to change it?!?! I know very few (if any) *real* blondes over *that* age! In fact my older son was a "towhead" when he started kindergarten until about the fourth grade! My younger brother was also a towhead when he was young; but, since we grew up before there were many, if *any* color photographs, I can't say exactly when *his* hair darkened! BTW, my wife had strawberry roan colored hair until she was four or five (we still have one of her pigtails); but when I met her and married her, her hair was a very dark brunette!
